For starters, the front grille somewhat reminds you of the latest Vios which makes you wonder if the new Vios actually ‘borrowed’ the Yaris design which was already available then. It has 2 trim levels namely the Toyota Yaris 1.5G and the Toyota Yaris 1.5S. Both trims are equipped with the 1.5 liter VVTi engine which is the same one you get on the Vios and are paired with the 4 speed automatic transmission Super ECT gearbox. It also comes with gate shifters. It gets you up to 109 horsepower at 6,000rpm and 142Nm of torque at 4,200rpm.
If you are looking for a car with quality (as they say with Toyota cars) and would not like a too bulky model, then the Yaris would be an ideal choice. It is compact, pretty strong bodied and has nice interiors too. With the 1.5S you get the amber Optitron meters while white Optitron meters welcome you in the 1.5G. The Toyota in-built entertainment MP3 player is also illuminated to suit the colour of the trim giving it a consistent persona. The colour of seats between the 2 trims too differs were the 1.5S comes with leather wrapped steering wheel, shift level and knobs.
For a compact car like this, its inbuilt system comes with 6 speakers which is more than what you get in the bigger Toyota like the Avanza (which comes with 4). As with most cars this size, it also comes with foldable seats in the rear where you will get more space, pretty much the trend these days. If you go for the 1.5S you will get the full bodykit which comes with nice looking front, side and rear skirts which is not available in the 1.5G version. LED brake lamps are fitted in with dual air-bags, ABS and EBD as safety features. The 1.5G is priced at RM92,800 while the 1.5S will cost you another 6k more with a choice of 7 colours namely Silver Metallic, Medium Silver Metallic, Black Mica, Super Red V, Pale Orange Mica Metallic, Dark Blue Mica, and Light Blue Mica Metallic.
