Vios goes sporty with the Vios TRD Sportivo

Since it was launched back in 2003, the Vios has been steadily bringing in the numbers where there are now more than 130,000 units on the road. Come 2007, the Vios will then be further enhanced to its second generation where there is a Sports version deemed as the top of the line model. The Vios TRD Sportivo is one that will hold the fort in its current variant.

The TRD Sportivo comes standard with fittings that will have you drooling really. To begin with, you get the TRD Sportivo emblem which is pretty much synonymous with fast Toyota cars, door visors, a 5 piece Aerokit which is way sportier than the original look, fabric sports seats, a cool looking sports gear knob, TRD scuff plates all placed above its 15 inch allow rims. You can also opt for the Sports Suspension system if you like.

According to UMW, the car comes standard with a 100,000kilometers or 3 years warranty, whichever comes first, and priced at RM90,900, this car is set to make waves and give its competitors a run for their money. Mr Kuah Kock Heng, the President at UMW, the company is confident that the TRD will create a positive impact in the automotive industry. He said “We are confident that this model will continue to maintain its position as the leader in its category. Last year, the Vios comprised a 32% share of all Toyota vehicles sold, and as of May 2009, it comprise(s) a 36% share of total Toyota vehicles sold. With the Vios TRD, we are sure Vios will continue its growth momentum,”

Truth be told, the TRD came about with some very positive feedback that UMW got from its customers where a sportier version of the Vios is much desired. Hence, taking into considerations the customers’ preference, it was just duly appropriate that this variant was brought in. Now, UMW can almost be sure that their customer’s satisfaction can be met with a car which is popular and now way sportier.

You get a feeling that the car has been re-designed somehow with polyurethane bootlid spoiler, front and read lips, side skirts and such and one that looks totally different from the Vios GT found in Thailand.

On top of that, there are 5 different colours to choose from which are Grey Mica, Silver Metallic, White, Bronze Metallic and Coal Black. But if you really like the TRD variant then you should just take its signature Medium Silver Metallic colour which pretty much profiles its trademark.
