Driver’s birthdate might be used for license expiry date soon

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is currently considering changing the format on the driving licences where the drivers’ birthdate might be used as the expiry date to help them remember better in renewing them.

According to Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha, the Transport Minister, this might be a more effective way which could help drivers remember to renew their driving licences after many had complained that they had ‘forgotten’ when they were caught for driving with an expired driving license. He said that if such a system is implemented, one could still renew their licenses for up to 5 years as allowed previously.
